The Donor
Wall at the California Academy of Science consists
of 288 blocks of glass with four-color photos
sandwiched between the layers of glass to look like
specimen samples. The front 6” x 6” block
of 3/4” Starphire Crystal glass was first directly
printed with the “specimen“ then laminated
to a second piece of 1/2” glass. The donor text
was then etched and color in-filled on the front surface
of the block. The blocks were then finished with a
white back paint ready to mount on the wall. Additionally
each “specimen” block was duplicated
without the back paint and sent to each donor in
a gift box
as a thank you for their contribution.
